These Houseboat Rules & Regulations (“Rules”) apply to all guests staying on or using any houseboat operated by Alleppey Green Tourism Private Limited. By making a booking, boarding the houseboat, or using any services provided by the Company, you agree to comply with these Rules in full.

Definitions

HouseboatAny private or shared houseboat service operated by us.
GuestAny person staying on the houseboat or approved to board.
CrewCaptain, boat staff, cook, helper, or authorized personnel.
Check-In/OutFixed times unless explicitly approved by the Company.
Safety EquipmentLife jackets, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc.

Check-In & Check-Out

Private Houseboat

Check-in: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Check-out: 9:00 AM

Shared Houseboat

Check-in: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Check-out: 9:00 AM

Late Check-In

Late arrival does not entitle Guests to extended cruising or late check-out.

Early Check-In / Late Check-Out

Permitted only subject to availability. Extra charges may apply based on operational constraints.

Guest Identification & Boarding

Mandatory Requirements

Guest must present:

  • Booking confirmation
  • Valid payment receipt

ID proof is not mandatory, but may be requested if required by law enforcement.

Additional Guests

Guests not included in the booking record will not be allowed on board. Bringing additional persons without prior approval is strictly prohibited.

Safety Rules

Mandatory Instructions

  • • Wear life jackets while on deck during cruising.
  • • Follow Crew instructions at all times.
  • • Avoid leaning over railings.
  • • No standing during docking/departure.
  • • Do not enter engine room/restricted areas.

Children

Children under 5 must be supervised at all times. Parents/guardians are fully responsible.

Swimming

Strictly prohibited in backwaters. Entering water is at own risk and may terminate trip.

Weather Conditions

Cruising may be paused/cancelled during heavy rain or strong winds. Refunds as per Adverse Weather Policy.

Cruising & Anchoring Rules

Cruising Timings

As per Government regulations: 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM. After 5:30 PM, the boat must remain anchored.

Night Halt

The boat will anchor at a designated safe zone. Night-time cruising is strictly prohibited by law.

Behavior & Conduct

Prohibited Behaviors

Illegal activity
Harassment of crew
Excessive alcohol
Loud music
Damage to property
Throwing waste in water

Respect for Crew

Abusive behavior towards crew may result in immediate termination of service, reporting to authorities, and no refund.

Alcohol Consumption

Moderate consumption allowed. Guests are fully responsible for their behavior. Hard liquor in excess may be restricted.

Food & Meal Service

Meal Timings

Meals served according to crew availability, kitchen safety guidelines, and operational timing limitations.

Special Requests

Special meals may be arranged only if informed in advance.

Damage, Loss & Theft

Guest Liability

Guests will be charged for damaged furniture, broken items, stained linens, lost keys, or misuse of equipment. Charges must be settled before check-out.

Company Not Liable For

Loss of valuables, personal injury due to non-compliance, or damages caused by Guest negligence.

Restrictions & Prohibitions

Strictly Prohibited Items/Actions

  • • Drugs or banned substances
  • • Weapons
  • • Fireworks
  • • BBQ/fire cooking on deck
  • • Unauthorized persons
  • • Pets (unless approved)
  • • High-voltage appliances (Iron, Hair dryer)

Government Laws & Enforcement

All Guests must comply with Kerala Tourism guidelines, Inland Waterways rules, and police instructions. Authorities may inspect the boat at any time.

Emergency Procedures

In Case of Emergency

Follow crew instructions, wear life jackets, move to safe areas, and avoid crowding the deck.

Emergency Services

In serious situations, assistance will be sought from local police, coastal authorities, and rescue officials.

Liability & Disclaimer

Guest Responsibility

Guests board and participate at their own risk.

Company Not Responsible For

Accidents due to disobedience, medical emergencies not caused by negligence, slip/fall incidents, or alcohol-related injuries.

Limited Liability

Company liability shall not exceed the booking amount paid, except where required by law.

Termination of Service

The Company may terminate service without refund if a Guest violates rules, behaves abusively, or engages in illegal/unsafe activities.

Governing Law: India & State of Kerala (Alappuzha Jurisdiction)

By boarding the houseboat, Guests confirm they have read, understood, and agreed to these Rules.
